THE DUEL OF WINE Screening

Date:

11/15/2017

THE DUEL OF WINE Screening

On the occasion of the of N.I.C.E USA 2017 New Italian Film Events screening of the movie The Duel of Wine by Nicolás Carreras.

Synopsis: Famed sommelier Charlie Arturaola fell from grace after a momentary loss of his taste during the shooting of a movie. The image of "a Sommelier without palate" destroyed his career and he is forced to lead a precarious life in the suburbs of Miami, Florida. In the meantime, another great sommelier, Luca Gardini from Italy, is quickly advancing toward the final stage of the international competition “The Duel of Wine.“ Charlie devises a stratagem that will allow him to participate in the competition: he will hide behind the mystery and buffoonery of a disguise, the “Masked Count.“

Followed by a Q&A with producer Lino Pujia and sommelier Charlie Arturaola, moderated by Simone Bracci (Film4Life). Refreshments and “Wine tasting” provided by Carpineto, Arnaldo Caprai, Bisol Crede and Cantina del Castello.

Held in the US annually for the past 26 years, as part of its mission, N.I.C.E. has always been committed to guaranteeing adequate space to reflection and discussion, while representing a great opportunity to grasp any creative and cultural changes in the landscape of today’s film industry. Over the years, many of the emerging filmmakers showcased by N.I.C.E. have reached worldwide success, such as Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone, Francesca Archibugi, Mario Martone, Paolo Virzì, Alessandro D'Alatri, Marco Pontecorvo, Valeria Golino and many, many more.
The festival keeps focusing on detecting new trends, creative experimentation, and all aggregations in place in Italy between filmmakers, actors, producers, emerging authors, most of whom have been showcased by the most influential international festivals worldwide, such as Cannes, Berlin, Toronto and have come home with very prestigious awards. Such dedicated work has contributed in increasing the festival’s audiences over the decades, while also attracting the attention of American producers and distributors who in the past few years have started releasing the films showcased by N.I.C.E. or co-producing their remakes.

Viviana del Bianco, Director N.I.C.E.
